Polyvinyl chloride
PVC is a recyclable plastic, which,
thanks to its properties of durability, is particularly
suitable for a broad range of applications (building,
automotive, healthcare and consumer goods sectors). The
characteristics of PVC are considered to be similar to
those of Polystyrene, although it is considerably
stronger and more durable. Flexible in reduced
thicknesses and rigid in heavier gauges, PVC is also
available with various Vicat softening temperatures and
is therefore suitable for numerous different
applications. This material can be produced with a gloss
or matt finish, and thanks to its highly uniform surface
it makes an ideal substrate for high-resolution
printing. Moreover, it provides excellent
personalization results also in thermal printing. PVC
cards can be supplied with a laminated or coated
(varnished) finish (monolayer card).
PVC is recommended for:
• Production of all types of cards
• High opacity for phone cards,
because it prevents reading of secret key codes even
when observed against the light
